THĂM CHIÊN TRONG RẪY  CAO SU

Cha sở thường đạp xe thể dục qua rẫy tràm, rẫy cao su.

-Thưa cha, Cha đạp 300 m,  rẽ trái chừng 150 mét  nữa,  cha thấy một căn nhà, trong đó có con chiên lạc.

Tôi đạp xe. Đường hơi dốc. Xuống dốc, rẽ trái. Có bàn tròn trước nhà dưới  tán cao su  mấy mảnh ván ghép lại nằm trên một rễ cây khô khá đẹp. Còn một ly cà phê vừa uống dở. Chắc chắn có người ở nhà.

-         Chào anh

-         Chào Bác

-         Cha xứ đây (cười).Cha ghé nhà ông Trùm X, rồi ghé anh…Không đi làm sao ?

-         Hôm nay được nghỉ .

-         Con …làm ơn đâu ?

-         Dạ . Bảo vệ công ty cám..

-         Tốt quá. Bã xã đâu ?

-         Ly dị lâu rồi.

-         Mấy đứa con  ?

-         Hai đứa! Ở với mẹ.

-         Có thăm bố không ?

-         Thỉnh thoảng

-         Có cho nó tiên không ?

-         Thỉnh thoảng.

-         Có đi lễ không ?

-         Thỉnh thoảng.

-         Có rước lễ không ?

-         Dạ chưa xưng tội lần đầu.

-         Có muốn rước lễ không ?

-         Dạ có.

-         Có tới nhà ông bà Trùm Th chơi không ?

-         Thỉnh thoảng..

Ở một mình giữa rừng cao su cách xóm hơn nửa cây số, có chuyện gì ai cứu được. Có cái Radio nghe tin tức.Có điện thoại đập đá.Có người gọi tới.

-         Lương mấy triệu một tháng con ?

-         Năm sáu  triệu

Cha mẹ anh em ngoài că ncứ đều đang giữ đạo .Chỉ có mình anh đi lưu li  lấy vợ ngoại rồi vợ bỏ.

-         Có bao giờ vợ vào đây không ?

-         Không.

-         NHờ Ông bà trùm dạy ít kinh rồi ra nhà nhờ cha cho rước lễ thêm sức nha. Chịu khó đi lễ.Sang đi với ông bà trùm cho vui

-         Dạ

Một tháng sau Cha sở lại đạp xe đạp vào nhà ông bà trùm

-         Anh Th học sao rồi ?

-         Dạ con dạy cho biết Chúa ba Ngôi, phép giải tội. mình thánh Chúa. Từ khi 21 tuổi thì bỏ hẳn không đi lễ nữa . Bố và anh em đang giữ đạo  xứ gì ngoài quốc lộ.

-         Tạm đươc thì cho xưng tội rồi rước lễ thêm sức. Để Chúa làm tiếp.

-         Lâu lâu tụi xì ke tập trung vào đó mhậu nhẹt

-         Rồi sao ?

-         Thấy cũng không có chuyện gì.

-         Tối thứ Năm đem vào tập nghi thức xưng tội. Tối thứ Sáu THêm Sức với mây dự tòng kia.

-         Cám ơn cha.

Thứ Sáu sẽ thêm sức trong lễ rửa tội cho hai dự tòng.Tốt rồi.Chúa làm tiếp .

VISITING A SHEEP IN THE RUBBER PLANTATION

,The parish priest often rode his bicycle for exercise through the cajeput and rubber plantations.

I pedaled along. The road was slightly uphill. Down the slope, I turned left. — "I work as a security guard for an animal feed company."

— "That's great. Where is your wife?"

— "Divorced a long time ago."

— "Yes, Father, I would."

— "Do you ever drop by Mr. and Mrs. Th’s house to hang out?"

Living all alone in the middle of a rubber forest, more than half a kilometer away from the hamlet—if anything were to happen, who could come to the rescue? He had a radio to listen to the news and an old basic keypad phone. Suddenly, a call came through.

— "How many million dong do you make a month, my son?"

— "Ask Mr. and Mrs. Th to teach you a few basic prayers, then come out to the church so I can prepare you for First Communion and Confirmation, alright? Try your best to go to Mass. On Sunday mornings, you can go with Mr. and Mrs. Th for company."

— "Yes, Father."

A month later, the parish priest rode his bicycle back to Mr. and Mrs. Th’s house.

— "How are Mr. Th’s lessons coming along?"

— "Well, Father, I’ve taught him about the Holy Trinity, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the Holy Eucharist. Ever since he turned 21, he completely stopped going to Mass. His father and siblings are practicing Catholics at a parish out by the highway."

— "If it’s good enough for now, let him make his Confession, then receive First Communion and Confirmation. Let God do the rest."

— "Every now and then, some junkies gather over there to drink."

— "And then what?"

— "Nothing serious seems to happen."

— "Bring him over on Thursday evening to practice the rite of Confession. On Friday evening, he can be confirmed along with the other catechumens."

— "Thank you, Father."

On Friday, he will be confirmed during the Baptism Mass for two catechumens. That is good. God will do the rest.
